Malibu Chili Cook-off Labor Day Weekend

For 25 years the Kiwanis Chili Cook-off has graced the Civic Center area of Malibu on Labor Day Weekend. Some years it has been five days, some years two, some three and now it has settled into four days of chili, carnival rides, music and festivities.

Location: 23641 Pacific Coast Highway Malibu, CA 90265
Date: August 31 – September 3, 2007

Ask anyone in the city of Malibu and surrounding areas what Labor Day weekend means, and they are sure to bring up the Malibu Kiwanis Chili Cook-off and Carnival. They may say “The Cook-off” or “The Carnival” or “The Chili thing”, but they all know when and where.

Friday - August 31

Friday night is known as “Malibu Night”, where the citizens of Malibu get their first crack at the carnival rides and seeing friends at the end of summer, just before school begins.

Saturday - September 1

Saturday is opening day for the “chili side” where people can eat chili and enjoy five hours of live music and buy local wares at the vendor village with more carnival fun throughout the night.

Sunday - September 2

Sunday is more of the same with chili, fun, food, music and rides, but the special of Sunday is the drawing of the car ticket, where winners have driven away in Porsches, BMW’s, Hummers, Mustangs and motorcycles.

Monday - September 3

Monday is a free day where anyone forgetting to win a stuffed animal, or get one more twist on the Tilt-A-Whirl can come for the afternoon.
