With a motto "Serving Children of the World," the Malibu Kiwanis Club follows that principal. In the process, members find many ways to serve the community while making new friends and having fun.
Kiwanis is open to all and the process of becoming a member is as simple as having a current member as a sponsor, followed by approval by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors. Our Membership Chair provides prospective members with a brief background about Kiwanis.
Benefits include good food and good programs the first three Thursdays of the month at 7pm. Meetings typically last an hour and are informative, exciting and entertaining. The second Thursday of each month is the board meeting and these meetings are open to all members.
Some of the highlights of membership each year are participation in the annual Chili Cook-off on Labor Day weekend that raises money for local charitable organizations. We also enjoy the Malibu Chamber of Commerce’s annual Art Festival and look forward to even more participation in local activities.
All members are expected to do is attend club meetings with a minimum of 60 percent attendance. We like our members to be willing to serve the community and support the objectives of Kiwanis. As in most organizations, we are expected to meet our financial obligations, make a commitment of time for our projects and to serve our community.
